Arctic Satellite Broadband Mission (ASBM) on SpaceX Falcon 9 Block 5

Launch Window:

Mission Objective:

  • Deploy two satellites (ASBM 1 & 2) to provide continuous broadband coverage across the Arctic region (north of 65° N latitude).

Benefits:

  • Support economic development and scientific research in the region.
  • Bridge the connectivity gap for remote communities and businesses.

  • Northrop Grumman (satellites manufacturer)

Satellite Details:

  • Based on Northrop Grumman’s GEOStar-3 platform.
  • Utilize highly elliptical orbits for optimal Arctic coverage.
  • Carry multiple payloads including X-Band for secure military communications and Ka-Band for commercial broadband services.

Current Status:

  • Satellites delivered to launch site in June 2024.
